From Our Kitchen to Your Table
Kweenie's Pot (formerly known as Queenie's Pot) was born from a simple desire: to do more with what I had and to honour a passion that had quietly lived in me since childhood.
In October 2020, just after completing my service year, I was retained as a teacher. I was grateful for the opportunity, but I knew I needed something more to support my income. Cooking had always been familiar to me. My mother owned a restaurant. But I had never imagined turning that love into a business. Still, with faith and determination, I decided to start small.
What began as weekend soup bowls, carefully prepared in 2-litre portions, soon found their way into the hands of satisfied customers. After work on evenings when school closed early, I would cook and package meals, pouring dedication into every order. The response was gradual but steady. People returned, recommended us to others, and before long, clients began requesting meals for small gatherings and personal events.
Starting in a city where I had no family and barely knew anyone was not easy. Trust had to be earned plate by plate. But through consistency, quality, and genuine service, relationships began to grow. Each satisfied customer became a voice for the brand, and each order became a stepping stone forward.
By the end of 2021, what started as a side hustle had grown beyond what I could balance alongside teaching. Turning down orders during the week became increasingly difficult. In December 2021, I made a life-changing decision. I resigned from my job to pursue the vision full time.
January 2022 marked a new beginning. Daily orders started coming in, and the menu expanded beyond soup bowls to include lunch packs, food trays, and eventually full event catering. One defining moment came when a family friend trusted us to cater for a child's dedication hosting 300 guests. Shortly after, our church requested 600 food packs on short notice. Both events tested our limits, but they were successful, and they changed everything. They opened doors, strengthened confidence, and positioned Kweenie's Pot for the growth that followed.
Today, Kweenie's Pot has delivered over 10,000 packs of food and served more than 1,000 clients. What began in a small kitchen has grown into a trusted name known for quality, care, and premium service.
